Moto has been launching all its mid-range smartphone in Indian markets first and this has been going on for quite a while now. You may remember Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus, Moto E3 Play all this had launched in the Indian market first. It isn’t exception now for its newest phone. Today, Moto launched its newest in line mid-range smartphone Moto M. After watching the launch event, my first impression was like – it isn’t much of a different than Moto G4 Plus. Yes, Moto has made some noticeable changes but not that much. It is still similar to Moto G4 Plus in lots of aspects. Let’s take a look at the specifications Moto M offers.
Moto M comes in dual variant- the base variant which has 32GB internal storage and 3GB RAM and, the 64GB variant which comes with 4GB of RAM. The base variant will be priced at Rs. 15,999, while high-end variant will cost Rs. 17,999. Both the variants supports dual sim (Nano sim). Both the variant comes with colors- Gold, Grey, and Silver. Moto M is going to be the first phone by Moto with an all-metal body. And it is good because the metal body gives the phone a premium look. Moto M also features a fingerprint sensor, but now it is placed on the back of the phone. It is powered by Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow – which is a bit surprising because they could have launched the phone with Android 7.1 Nougat considering it has been out for a while now. Also, who knows how much time they will take to launch Android 7.1 Nougat via OTA update.
Moto M packs 5.5inch full-HD IPS display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution at 401 PPI pixel density. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. This phone packs the new MediaTek Helio P15 SoC clocks at 2.2 GHz octa core. The new SoC might be surprising considering market trends of Snapdragon chips and considering MediaTek’s history of over-heating problems. Moto M also gives you the option for storage expansion up to 128GB via microSD card, which goes in the place of secondary sim card.
Let’s talk about one of the major features in a smartphone today- camera. Moto M features 16MP primary shooter paired with 8MP selfie shooter. The camera has f/2.0 aperture with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and LED flash. We are still missing laser auto-focus from Moto G4 Plus. Moto M connectivity department includes Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth V4., A-GPS, NFC, 4G VoLTE and USB type-C (USB 3.1). In case you might wonder it still has 3.5mm audio jack. It is powered by a 3050mAh battery and also supports Quick charging. The speakers on Moto M comes with Dolby Atmos audio enhancement support.
Where to Buy?
Moto M will be available to buy on Flipkart on dec 14th, starting at 11.59 PM. It is only Flipkart exclusive. Moto is offering Rs. 1,000 off on Citi bank and also Rs. 2,000 off in exchange of your old smartphone.
This is the specs that Moto M offers. What do you think? Will you buy this phone? Will this be your next phone? Did Moto succeeded in providing quality smartphone at the low price? Let me know what do you think of Moto M in the comment section down below.
It is a really good phone for the very reasonable price. No question it will provide value for your money. Still, it has some downsides in camera and design department. Moto could have included Snapdragon SoC and stereo speakers. But overall it is Moto’s another effort in providing the mid-range smartphone with pretty decent specs and I think they have succeeded so far.
