Android N finally has a name, and it’s Nougat.
The official title of Google’s next OS has a long time coming. First, it was introduced back in March. Then it is followed by a fan feedback on what should be the name of upcoming android (still they said that final name would be decided by only them). Android 7.0 is going to be next successor to android Marshmallow. Nougat brings lots of new features including split-screen multi-window support, direct-reply notifications, and bundled notification. So without further delay let’s talk about the features of Android N in detail.
Top Features of Android N
The new software will let you talk in more natural dialogue with the Android device than you can with Google Now (Google’s current personal assistance), in order to get tasks completed. It’s now focusing more on two-way conversation. It remembers the previous search and will use it to get next task done.
This feature will also be available on the devices running android jelly bean and higher, launch time is same as android Nougat. Instant Apps is a basic app which you do not have to install to access certain feature of its full version app, like recharging your phone. This is especially useful for online shopping and digital transactions.
Samsung and LG providing this feature from years, now it will come to more android phones. This will enable two apps to run on the screen at the same time. Google also added a picture-in-picture option for apps that will play video service, similar to the iPad Air. That means you will be able to watch a YouTube video while checking e-mails.
Reply Through Notification
This feature has taken from Android Wear watches, Google will now let you reply to your messages from the notification without interrupting what you are doing. When you receive a new message, a little pop-up will appear on top of your screen and you can type your reply there and go back to your work you were doing without any interruption.
If you gets too many notifications and your notification panel looks messy, this might help you. Apps will be able to group notifications together. If you have got so many notifications from the same app, you will see notification bundle of them and you just need to click that bundle to expand it and see each individual notification.
DOZE feature started from android 6.0 Marshmallow, a battery-saving setting that hibernates background apps and shuts down when your phone is not in use and sitting idle. Aggressive Doze does the same , except your phone can be in motion (like it is in your pocket sitting idle). Basically what it does is collect data from proximity and other sensors that tell the phone is not in use, and sitting idle in a pocket. Google’s also working on Project Svelte, which has the aim to improve android’s RAM management, so they can bring the latest versions of Android to more devices, especially to budget smartphones with low-end specs.
This feature is also available in some custom ROM and in iOS. The aim is to reduce eye strain while watching the bright screen in the night. This setting change tints of the screen to screen yellow at night, which keeps less eye strain in later hours than the usual blue tint. The settings are also adjustable.
And Lot More To See!
Though we have seen lots of new features, we still don’t know everything that will come in the final version of Nougat. If you are impatient, there is also developer preview of android Nougat available for Nexus 6P, 5X , 6 owners to test.
